What is therapy?
Therapy is the process of working with a therapist to understand problems causing emotional and psychological distress and work to resolve them by changing thoughts, behaviours and emotions. There are different types of therapies, including individual, couple and family.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy can help you better understand and resolve concerns such as anger and reactivity, anxiety and other mental health issues, addictions, unresolved trauma, unhelpful patterns in relationships, parenting challenges and career changes. A Systemic approach to therapy acknowledges that individuals are embedded in various systems and we need to understand the individual’s relationships and interactions in these systems to understand how the problem came to be.
Individual therapy can help you overcome:
- Anger and reactivity
- Anxiety or other mental health issues
- Addictions
- Unresolved Trauma
- Unhelpful patterns in relationships
I work with individuals to look beyond their behaviours to uncover the roots of behaviours and feelings so they have a deeper understanding of the concerns they bring to therapy. This greater self-awareness and insight is often the catalyst to establishing deeper relationships with yourself and with others in your life.
